The concept

Designed for groups that value substance, pace and place.

Both editions share a carefully considered route and hotel structure. The experiences shift with the season, so every programme feels natural, operationally sound and genuinely local.

Ljubljana or Bled Postojna & Karst Rovinj Departure airport

Arrival and departure can be arranged through Ljubljana, Zagreb or Venice Airport. Transfer times are planned for a touring coach and depend on traffic, breaks and border conditions.

8 days / 7 nights3N Bled or Ljubljana3N Rovinj or Rovinj UpgradeApril to October

Day 1

Arrival in Ljubljana

Arrival via Ljubljana, Zagreb or Venice Airport, with a tailored welcome programme according to the arrival time.

Meet the driver and a Between TMC representative or local guide, when arranged, at the selected airport. Transfer to Ljubljana or Bled, settle in and, if the flight schedule permits, enjoy a gentle orientation walk through the pedestrian Old Town.

A seasonal three-course welcome dinner introduces Slovenia through local ingredients rather than a generic hotel buffet. Airport transfers are planned with a 20% coach allowance and remain subject to traffic, border conditions and driver-rest requirements.

Day 2

Ljubljana, its stories and flavours

A curated city experience, local design, architecture and time to absorb Slovenia’s capital.

A story-led local guide takes the group through Prešeren Square, the Triple Bridge, Central Market, Cathedral quarter and riverside lanes shaped by Jože Plečnik. Ride the funicular to Ljubljana Castle for a view that places the Alps, the city and the Karst in geographical context.

Meet selected small market producers and see how Slovenian food changes from the Alpine north to the Mediterranean west. The afternoon allows time for cafés, galleries and design shops, followed by a private wooden-boat ride on the Ljubljanica when conditions permit.

Day 3

Lake Bled & Radovljica: Honey, Heart & Stars

Lake Bled, local heritage and a private encounter shaped around Slovenia’s beekeeping tradition.

Begin at Lake Bled with a traditional pletna crossing to the island and continue to Bled Castle for panoramic views and layered local history. After a light lunch, travel to medieval Radovljica.

Experience Between TMC’s private Honey, Heart & Stars encounter, built around beekeeping heritage, local stories and personal hosts. Its exact format is tailored to the group and season. Dinner at Hiša Linhart offers chef Uroš Štefelin’s contemporary interpretation of regional cuisine, subject to host, venue and restaurant availability. If the group stays in Bled, Days 2 and 3 may be reversed for a more efficient operation.

Day 4

Postojna Cave & the living Karst

Core programme: Postojna Cave, then a hosted visit to a Karst prosciutto producer and winery.

Travel to Postojna to discover its underground world by cave train and on foot through monumental chambers. Continue deeper into the Karst for a family-hosted visit at a prosciutto and wine estate, where the group learns how the bora wind shapes traditional air-drying.

A hosted tasting and Karst meal feature prosciutto, Teran wine and seasonal local specialities before check-in at the Karst base. Optional enhancements may be selected instead of, rather than added automatically to, the core programme: the Secret Rooms of Hotel Jama with their Cold War story, or Lipica Stud Farm and the Lipizzaner School of Classical Riding, subject to capacity, timing and operating schedule.

Day 5

Towards Rovinj via truffle country

Transfer into Istria through its wooded interior, with a private truffle-led experience en route.

Travel towards Buzet and meet a local truffle-hunting family and their trained dogs for a private forest walk. Return to the family table for hands-on preparation of fuži, gnocchi or another traditional dish, followed by a generous truffle lunch.

This is a participatory meeting with local hosts, rather than a simple tasting. Continue to Rovinj for a three-night stay and an unhurried evening by the Adriatic. The exact truffle variety and format depend on the natural season, weather and group size.

Day 6

Rovinj and Istrian producers

Rovinj at an unhurried pace, followed by a signature experience chosen for the group.

Begin with a guided walk from the harbour through the Old Town’s narrow lanes to the Church of St Euphemia. Meet a local interpreter connected with the traditional batana fishing boats and discover how Rovinj preserves its maritime identity.

Choose one afternoon experience according to season, interests and activity level: a Rovinj archipelago kayak, stand-up paddleboard or private boat experience; a family-run olive oil estate and boutique winery in the Rovinj, Bale or Vodnjan countryside; or a guided buggy safari through Istrian forest trails and rural viewpoints. Return to Rovinj for a relaxed evening.

Day 7

Pula & the natural highlights of southern Istria

Roman Pula, followed by a choice of two distinct southern Istrian experiences.

Explore Pula with a local guide, centred on its remarkably preserved Roman amphitheatre and layered Adriatic history. Then select either Cape Kamenjak or Brijuni Islands National Park, never both on the same day, to preserve a comfortable pace.

At Cape Kamenjak, kayak or stand-up paddleboard with experienced instructors, with a gentler coastal alternative for non-participants. Or travel by boat from Fažana to Brijuni, an archipelago shaped by nature, archaeology and more than two thousand years of human history. Both sea-based options are subject to weather and operating conditions. Return to Rovinj for a farewell dinner.

Day 8

Departure

Private transfer to Ljubljana, Zagreb or Venice Airport, timed to the group’s flights.

After breakfast and check-out, transfer to the confirmed departure airport. From Rovinj, estimated coach timings are approximately 2 hours 50 minutes to Ljubljana Airport, 3 hours 35 minutes to Zagreb Airport and 3 hours 25 minutes to Venice Marco Polo Airport.

The final departure plan allows for traffic, seasonal congestion, border conditions, comfort stops, legally required driver breaks and the airline’s check-in deadline.
